Senegal covers an area of 196,700 square kilometers and is located in western Africa. It borders Mauritania to the north by the Senegal River, Mali to the east, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau to the south, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. Senegal, the full name of the Republic of Senegal, is located in western Africa. The coastline is about 500 kilometers long, and the Gambia forms an enclave in southwestern Sierra Leone. The southeastern part of Sierra Leone is a hilly area, and the middle and eastern part are semi-desert areas. The terrain is slightly inclined from east to west, and the rivers all flow into the Atlantic Ocean. The main rivers are Senegal and Gambia. Lake Gaelic and so on. It has a tropical grassland climate.
In the 10th century AD, the Turks established the Kingdom of Tecro, and it was incorporated into the Mali Empire in the 14th century. In the middle of the 15th century, Mrs. Volo established the state of Zorov here, which belonged to the Songhai Empire around the 16th century. From 1445 the Portuguese invaded and engaged in slave trade. French colonists invaded in 1659. Senegal became a French colony in 1864. In 1909 it was included in French West Africa. It became a French overseas department in 1946. In 1958 it became an autonomous republic within the French Community. In 1959, it formed a federation with Mali. In June 1960, the Federation of Mali declared independence. In August of the same year, Serbia withdrew from the Mali Federation and established an independent republic.
National flag: It is rectangular with a ratio of length to width of 3:2. The flag surface is composed of three parallel and equal vertical rectangles. From left to right, they are green, yellow, and red. There is a green five-pointed star in the middle of the yellow rectangle. Green symbolizes the country's agriculture, plants and forests, yellow symbolizes abundant natural resources, red symbolizes the blood of martyrs fighting for independence and freedom; green, yellow, and red are also traditional pan-African colors. The green five-pointed star symbolizes freedom in Africa.
The population is 10.85 million (2005). The official language is French, and 80% of people in the country speak Wolof. 90% of residents believe in Islam.
